Story about the change in women representatives.

When I visited my operational area, I found that the women representatives and women of the village are completely ignorant about their rights and their work. They do not have any complete information about their rights and due to which they are deprived of many benefits. They are completely illiterate and lack awareness. Due to not getting information about anything on time, they have to remain deprived of everything and they did not participate in any meeting of the village because they thought that what do they have to do with worldly affairs and what benefit will they get by attending the meeting. But whenever I met the women representatives one-on-one, they told me that no one gives importance to the ward member, then I told them that if they go to the meeting, they will get a lot of information which will lead to their development along with the development of their village. It is their duty to share whatever information they get during their meetings with the people of their village and tell them about it too.I made women aware in the meetings of Mahila Mandal and told them that it is very important to attend the meetings. Gradually, as the work progressed and my words started reaching all the villages, the women representatives started going to the meetings of their Panchayat as before. Women also became eager to come to the meeting and started sharing their views in the meeting. The women who were never able to present their views before anyone, also started presenting their views to the Gram Sabha and women started becoming empowered.

The women representative told that now she participates in any meeting of the Panchayat and also whenever there is a Gram Sabha, Mahila Sabha or any meeting in the village, she participates in it and tells everyone the things heard by the Panchayat, due to which she tells people about many schemes. In this way, through the work of women empowerment, many levels of changes were seen in the women representatives. All this was possible only because of the program being run by Chotanagpur Kalyan Niketan organization, due to which the women representatives started becoming aware about their rights, they started speaking openly about their rights and the biggest thing is that now they do not have to be called for meetings, rather they themselves participate in their meetings. In this way, through their work, we got to see many changes, which made us very happy.
