Child Labourer Rescued from Hotel on World Day Against Child Labour Under NCPCR’s Nationwide Rescue & Rehabilitation Campaign 4.0

On the occasion of the World Day Against Child Labour, a child labourer was rescued from a hotel in Thethaitangar Block of Simdega district as part of the Nationwide Rescue & Rehabilitation Campaign 4.0, led by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR).

The rescue operation was led by Labour Superintendent Mr. Om Prakash Singh and carried out by the Labour Department in coordination with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Child Welfare Committee (CWC) represented by Mr. Mukesh Kumar, Association for Voluntary Action (AVA) represented by Mr. Suraj Kumar, Childline, District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), and Chotanagpur Kalyan Niketan (CKN).

During the operation, officials found that the child was employed at the hotel, constituting a violation of the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986, as amended in 2016. Following the rescue, the child was placed under safe care, and the process of rehabilitation, educational reintegration, and access to essential support services was initiated. Necessary legal action against the employer has also been undertaken by the Labour Department.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Om Prakash Singh, Labour Superintendent, said:

“Child labour is a serious violation of children’s rights. The Labour Department remains committed to making Simdega child labour free through regular inspections, awareness initiatives, and strict legal enforcement. Every child belongs in school, not in hotels, shops, or any workplace.”

On the occasion of the World Day Against Child Labour, all participating departments and partner organizations reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating child labour and appealed to citizens to report any instances of child labour to the district administration, the Labour Department, or the Child Helpline so that timely action can be taken.

Together, we can ensure that every child enjoys a safe childhood, quality education, and the opportunity to realize their full potential.
