Substance Abuse

The victim is 30 years old and lives with her husband 35 years old in, Simdega. Victim was married to accused 15 years ago, initially the accused was not an alcoholic but after the birth of a child he started drinking. Her sister-in-law makes alcohol and there he works with her and return home after drinking too much and in that situation he abuse her wife physically and scold her and after these happenings, her father-in-law threw her out of the house and she went to her mother’s house and gave birth to a child and she forcefully came back to her in-laws house and the same story repeated again. in midst of these she got a job of sweeper in the hospital and one day she met the director of CHOTANAGPUR KALYAN NIKETAN organization and then she helped her and helped her in reporting in the Mahila police station, there her husband was scolded by the police officials.
Later her in-laws and her husband separated her from the house and gave her a shed of goat to live in but with the help of organization she got a government apartment and the land of her part was given to her and now she is leading a happy and harmonious life.

Empowered Legal Aspects

The victim is 35 years old, lives in Simdega. victim was married 20 years ago man of 42 years old, after marriage she was tortured by her in-laws and abused physically and mentally, her husband was an alcoholic due to much tension in her in-laws house she came back to her mother’s house and gave birth to a girl child. in her mother’s house her step mother didn’t behaved properly with the victim, amongst this his husband lost his control on drinking and used to fall here and there in market after drinking, and her father called him to his house but he started abusing his father-in-law physically abused his wife, amongst these all she again gave birth to a girl child. after the birth of child her husband took her back to her in-laws house and tortured her as the husband of victim was unemployed in-laws taunted her telling her that she is a free loader and ungrateful.
Victim started selling packaged water bottles in the bus stand but one day a bus agent misbehaved with her and tore her clothes and said not to sell bottles in the bus stand victim went to police station to report about the scene but police officials denied to lodge the report.
There someone told her organization, she came to the office of the organization and gave a written application in the organization regarding seeking help and the director took the victim to the police station and gave an application in the police station and after that police arrested the accused and a written compromise was made and the accused filled the form of apology.
Due to the incident happened no one was letting her sell her product in the bus stand but later organistaion helped her by talking to the contractor of bus stand and gave her a corner in the bus stand to sell her tea in the stall.
organization also helped her husband to provide a job and now both of them are living harmoniously.

Dowry The Victim

25 years old has been married to man 22 years old. After 15 days of marriage her husband left to Punjab to continue his job, in the absence of her husband, her in-laws did the domestic violence including physical abuse to the victim for the dowry. After 6 months when her husband returned he brought his wife back to her house from her mother’s house and started torturing her in many ways. victim complained about the incident to her brother but no one gave priority or importance to her words.
Once her father-in-law asked her to go back to her mother’s house and her husband started talking to another women and abused her physically now and then, troubled by these she wanted to call her brother but when her brother came, her in-laws beat him too. and one day her in-laws gave her poison mixed in Kheer but the victim gave that to a cat and cat died after eating that. And She gave up and went back to her mother’s house.
After coming back she heard about the , organization and gave an application in written asking for help.
Organisation took the victim in front of C.J.M court, and an government advocate was availed to the victim and victim was linked to bank of india’s star swarojgar scheme for tailoring and now she is able to spent her life by doing the tailoring and wants justice from the court.

Gender Based Violence

The Victim is from, Simdega District and is 25 years old, has been married to man from localities, Simdega district 8 years ago through chief minister’s Kanyadan Yojana. After marriage scheme. Till 6 months of marriage everything was alright but after that one day the husband of the victim brought a girl to his house and threw the victim off the house and got intimate with the girl and when in morning survival wanted to say something he started beating her and scolding her and continue doing the same in midst of all these victim gave birth to a child but due to poor health condition child was still born. when the victim complained about the behavior of her husband to her in-laws instead of talking to her son , her mother-in-law started scolding her and as the victim is only child of her parents so the in-laws started pressurizing her for more dowry and did the physical abuse on her.
In midst of all these situations, victim gave birth to another child and after the birth of child, husband of the victim took her to her mother’s house and after arriving there the parents of victim was not there and her husband started beating her and threw her and in this the victim fainted and when she came to her senses, her husband asked her to sign on a blank paper, due to fear she signed on the paper and later his husband spread the rumours that she divorced him and after few days he married another girl and with his new wife he have a girl child. Later on a meeting with mahila mandal she heard about us and came to the office to meet .
We heard problems of the victim and took her to the C.J.M court and a case was filed and a notice was sent to the husband of the victim and while counseling done by the organization, victim told her that she don’t want to live with her husband now she want to spent her life alone with her child and just want compensation. organization also linked the victim with the bank of india’s star swarojgar yojana scheme of tailoring. and now victim do the work of tailoring as an assistant to a tailor shop and is spending her livelihood.

The survivor has been married 13 years before in Samastipur District. Her husband was 35 years old at that time, the survivor was abused by the in-laws and one day they went out of their limit and pushed the survivor and beat her with the whip used to beat the ox. After this incident when survivor went to her mother’s house(Jharkhand) there they said that she should compromise and adjust with their in-laws as after the marriage the house of husband is the house of the wife, and hence after few days her brother left her in the house of her in-laws, after the arrival of the survivor in her in-laws house she was then suffered with more physical and mental abuse on regular basis and in midst of all the struggle she gave birth to a male child and after the birth of the child, survivor was tortured with more physical work and also once her husband came from outside and poured hot dal over her and caused her burnt injury and she again came back to her mother’s house but they didn’t supported her and later they took her back to her in-laws house and their her in-laws prohibited her from entering in the house and after few days the her mother in law and her husband planned on taking her to Nepal and said that they have some business to do there, hence she have go along with them but the actual plan of her husband was to kill her.
After arriving there, she was again tortured and amongst this she gave birth to another child and they came back to India, Bihar and from there she called her and went back to her mother’s house but here also everyone of the family started taunting her and in midst of all these the survivor was found to be suffering from cancer.
The sister of the survivor came to Chotanagpur Kalyan Niketan, Organisation for learning tailoring there she told us, all the incident happened to her sister and then we told her that she will visit the house of the survivor, and next day director visited the house of victim and heard her and took her to the C.J.M court and with her permission case was filed against her husband and as per the want of survivor a compromise has been made.
After few days of compromise again his husband came and started physical abuse on the survivor and later with the help of director of CKN, survivor was taken to the nearest police station and a compromise was made in written.
Later we linked the survivor with the STAR SWAROJGAR YOJANA and the husband of the survivor was also provided with the fruit cart where he sells the fruit and now she is leading a life free from domestic violence and an independent life.
